This research initiative will build on over 20 years of prior studies in the Greater Yellowstone area, with a specific focus on lodgepole pine forests recently affected by bark beetles and fire. The project will address three key research questions: the differences in fire hazard related to fuel profiles affected by bark beetle outbreaks in lodgepole pine versus Douglas fir forests; the influence of past beetle infestations on the severity of recent fires and their effects on forest recovery; and the effectiveness of various post-beetle fuel treatments in reducing the risk of severe fires in these forest types.Apply for A1580090354
