Opportunity Information: Apply for 09FC811472
The Dixie Valley Ground Water Export Study aims to assess the potential for exporting water from Dixie Valley to various locations within Churchill County, Nevada. This comprehensive study will unfold in three phases over six years, starting from late 2008 to 2014.
In the first phase, from 2009 to 2012, researchers will collect and analyze data to understand the area's hydrogeologic framework, groundwater flow, and water quality. This will involve estimating groundwater discharge from springs and wells, evaluating evapotranspiration by phreatophytes, and using remote sensing to map these estimates across the study area. Water quality will be assessed through existing data and regular testing of groundwater and springs.
The second phase, spanning 2012 to 2013, will focus on developing and calibrating groundwater models to predict the hydrologic impacts of the proposed water export. This phase will also include evaluations of environmental effects and a detailed economic analysis of the export project.
The final phase, taking place in 2013 and 2014, will involve designing the pipeline necessary for water conveyance and estimating associated costs, aimed at providing a near-appraisal level assessment for the project.Apply for 09FC811472
