Opportunity Information: Apply for PA 09 183
The Food Protection Rapid Response Team and Program Infrastructure Improvement Prototype Project (U18) is a funding opportunity from the FDA, specifically targeted at States with existing FDA Food Safety contracts. This limited competition aims to establish and enhance Food Protection Rapid Response teams that manage food and feed safety programs over a three-year period, with the potential for non-competitive funding extensions based on performance.
The primary goals include improving State regulatory and surveillance programs for manufactured foods through financial support for program assessments, equipment, personnel, and training related to rapid response and food safety protocols. The program emphasizes collaboration with various FDA offices to streamline inspections and minimize redundancy.
Key components of the initiative involve developing an all-hazards response capability, enabling States to efficiently manage food-related incidents from production to consumption. Participants are expected to employ the FDA Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards for continuous program enhancements and to establish foodborne illness rapid response teams.
Funding is available for additional staffing, training, and materials necessary for effective response and investigation of foodborne illnesses, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting public health. States are required to maintain their funding levels to show that federal support does not replace existing State allocations. The overarching aim is to create a robust infrastructure that strengthens food safety measures and enhances State capabilities in addressing foodborne threats.Apply for PA 09 183
