Opportunity Information: Apply for FM MNE 11 001
The FY 2011 MCSAP New Entrant Funding opportunity, offered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), aims to provide financial support to state and local governments to improve safety related to commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). This initiative focuses on reducing crashes and hazardous materials incidents by implementing effective CMV safety programs.
The program emphasizes the importance of early detection and correction of safety defects, driver deficiencies, and unsafe practices among new motor carriers, both private and for hire, operating in interstate commerce. Since August 2005, new entrants must register and will be monitored for 18 months to ensure they have effective safety management controls in place.
During this monitoring period, a safety audit will be performed after the carrier has been operational for at least 90 days. To maintain their registration, new entrants must prove compliance with safety requirements. A portion of the available funds for FY 2011 will specifically support safety audits of these new entrants.
Applications for the New Entrant grant program need to be submitted via Grants.gov by 11:59 PM ET on October 15, 2010.Apply for FM MNE 11 001
