The Genomic Research in AAT Deficiency and Sarcoidosis (GRADS) program invites applications for Clinical Centers aiming to explore the genetic and microbiomic aspects of Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AAT) and sarcoidosis. Funded by NHLBI at NIH, this initiative will form a collaborative research team of experts across multiple disciplines to address these critical yet understudied lung diseases.
The program will support up to eight Clinical Centers, each tasked with enrolling participants, characterizing their clinical and immunological profiles, and collecting biospecimens for analysis at a centralized Genomics and Informatics Center (GIC). Each center will also create its own research protocol focused on understanding disease mechanisms and predictors of AAT and sarcoidosis.
Together, these centers aim to establish a cohort of around 400 AAT patients and 200 sarcoidosis patients and controls. A Steering Committee of lead investigators from each Clinical Center will oversee the development and implementation of the study protocols and ensure seamless operation throughout the research effort.Apply for RFA HL 12 013
