Opportunity Information: Apply for NPS FOA 16 002
The Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Multi-INT Studies (CMIS) is launching a grant opportunity aimed at revolutionizing the intelligence and surveillance landscape. The initiative seeks to enhance intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities through innovative research that can expand existing knowledge in the field.
As demand grows for real-time, accurate intelligence by analysts, military personnel, and decision-makers, traditional, human-dependent methods are proving inadequate. This situation is exacerbated by the complex and ever-evolving nature of adversaries and the environments they operate in, calling for significant advancements in intelligence processes.
Recognizing that humans struggle to effectively analyze the extensive amounts of multi-source and multi-dimensional data available, CMIS emphasizes the need for advanced decision-making tools. This includes capabilities like situational awareness, reasoning, and visualization to rapidly extract valuable insights from diverse data streams.
The vision outlined by CMIS is one where cognitive technologies can proactively identify strategic and tactical information needs, coordinate distributed sensors across various domains, and provide timely recommendations for actions to be taken by both human and machine agents. This involves a highly automated intelligence cycle with five key functions:
1. Automatic synthesis of target information from vast Multi-INT data. 2. Development of behavioral models supported by this information. 3. Assessing information value to guide future data acquisition. 4. Utilizing efficient algorithms to manage diverse sensors for information collection. 5. Keeping analysts and decision-makers informed while allowing them to guide the automated process.
Through this initiative, CMIS aims to create a future of intelligence that is significantly more automated and efficient.Apply for NPS FOA 16 002
