NASA's Science Mission Directorate is set to announce a new opportunity for the Discovery Program, aimed at selecting two to three principal investigator-led space science investigations. - Approval of medium and high-performance launch vehicles with 4m fairings, with associated costs currently under assessment. - Missions must align with three designated launch vehicles: Atlas V, Delta IV, and Falcon 9. - New minimum requirements for technology infusion cost incentives will be documented in the Program Library. - Fixed costs for NEPA, NLSA, and nuclear launch services for ASRG-using missions will be set at $20 million. - Clarifications regarding telecommunications bandwidth for missions, specifying limits for X band at Mars. - Martian surface missions will not need the Electra lite UHF radio package but must still be compatible with the existing UHF relay network. - The latest allowable Launch Readiness Date (LRD) is now December 31, 2017.
