The NASA Office of Education, through the Minority University Research and Education Program (MUREP), is set to announce a grant opportunity for the NASA Group 4 University Research Centers (URC). This initiative aims to establish multidisciplinary research centers at Minority Institutions, collaborating with NASA's four Mission Directorates: Aeronautics Research, Exploration Systems, Science, and Space Operations, as well as its ten Field Centers.
The purpose of the URCs is to enhance NASA-related research capabilities in minority academic institutions, encourage the development of new aerospace technologies, and increase the participation of faculty and students in mainstream research. The goal is also to boost the number of underrepresented and underserved students pursuing advanced degrees and careers in aerospace.
Eligible applicants include institutions recognized as Historically Black Colleges or Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, or Minority Serving Institutions. Each URC must identify the primary NASA Mission Directorate aligned with its research activities in its proposal.
