Appropriate institutional commitment to the program includes the provision of adequate staff, facilities, and educational resources that can contribute to the planned program. In many cases, it is anticipated that the proposed program will complement other ongoing research training, research education, and career development programs occurring at the applicant institution and that a substantial number of program faculty will have active research projects in which participating scholars may gain relevant experiences consistent with their research interests and goals. Institutions with existing K12 programs must explain what distinguishes this program from the others, how their programs will synergize with one another, if applicable, and make it clear that the pool of faculty, potential scholars, and resources are robust enough to support additional programs. If multiple sites are involved in the institutional career development program, the applicant institution must be one of these sites for the program. The need for and use of multiple sites must be justified.
