Opportunity Information: Apply for R11AP81325
The Water Science and Technology Board is initiating a comprehensive study to assess how water reclamation and reuse can help meet the future water supply needs of the United States. This study will explore various applications of reused water, including its use for drinking, irrigation, industrial processes, groundwater replenishment, and environmental support. A committee of about 14 volunteer experts will lead the effort, with assistance from NRC staff, holding around five meetings to gather information, discuss critical issues, and draft a report.
Over the course of two years, the committee will create a consensus report addressing the technical, economic, institutional, and social hurdles associated with increasing water reuse. The findings will aim to provide practical guidance for decision-makers considering different water supply options. Following standard NRC peer review processes, a pre-publication version of the report is anticipated to be ready approximately 21 months after the study starts. A three-month period will follow for editing and publication by the National Academies Press, alongside briefings and dissemination efforts. Additionally, a concise color brochure summarizing the key findings will be produced for widespread distribution.Apply for R11AP81325
