Only one award will be made to a professional counselor organization and it will go to the organization receiving the MFP award. The purpose of this grant program is to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the number of culturally competent master s level behavioral health professionals serving children, adolescents, and populations in transition to adulthood (ages 16 25) in an effort to increase access to, and quality of, behavioral health care for this age group. In addition, this program is designed to expand on the existing Minority Fellowship program to support master s level trained behavioral health providers in the fields of psychology, social work, professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, and nursing. Therefore, SAMHSA is limiting eligibility to the ANA, APA, CSWE, AAMFT and a national professional counselor organization along with their affiliates, who have applied for funding under the MFP RFA No. SM 14 007 and that have direct involvement in curriculum development, school accreditation, and pre /post doctoral training. These organizations have the mechanism, databases, infrastructure, expertise, and experience in working directly with university training programs from which the pools of participants are selected. Professional counselor organizations applying for this award must have applied for funding under the MFP RFA No. SM 14 007. All applicant professional counselor organizations must complete the Certificate of Eligibility (see Appendix I) indicating that the applicant meets all eligibility requirements and has provided the necessary information as specified in the Certificate of Eligibility. The Certificate of Eligibility should be included in Attachment 5 of the application. The statutory authority for this program prohibits grants to for profit agencies.
