  • Applicants are limited to states (including territories), units of local government (including federally recognized tribal governments, as determined by the Secretary of the Interior), nonprofit and for profit organizations (including tribal nonprofit and for profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). (See Eligibility, page 3.) OJJDP will give preference to applicants that have developed strong support within local government. Specifically, successful applicants from cities will be those that have signed letters of support from, at a minimum, their mayor, chief of police, and the local school superintendent and can show how the implementation of their community based anti gang strategy fits into their city s youth violence prevention plan.
