Opportunity Information: Apply for OJJD 2015 4126

The OJJDP FY 2015 Design Study of Dual System Youth grant opportunity focuses on understanding juveniles who have experience in both the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. Funded by the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act, this initiative aims to research the prevalence and incidence of what are referred to as dual system youth—those who, before entering the juvenile justice system, were in the care of the State Child Welfare system, and those unable to return home after their time in juvenile justice.

The primary goals include identifying effective strategies for measuring the prevalence of these youth, assessing current coordination and data sharing between the juvenile justice and child welfare systems, and exploring opportunities to enhance those systems' collaboration. The design study also aims to extend its focus beyond just court involvement to include interactions with law enforcement and child protection agencies. The ultimate objective is to improve outcomes for these vulnerable youth by fostering better communication and coordination between the involved systems.
