For the Organizational PAESMEM award, the nominee must be affiliated with a US educational institution or agency, corporation, foundation, military or government agency, or a nonprofit organization, and the nominee may be a specific program or mentoring activity housed within an organization. Organizational nominees likewise need to show at least five years of sustained, exceptional mentoring and documented impact on individuals from underrepresented groups in STEM.

The award itself combines a monetary prize with national-level recognition. Each Individual or Organizational awardee receives $10,000 and a commemorative Presidential certificate. Awardees are also invited to attend an award recognition ceremony in Washington, DC, which includes opportunities to meet with STEM educators, researchers, and policy leaders.
