Opportunity Information: Apply for SUBVENTIONS 10
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) is inviting proposals from nonprofit presses for subvention grants aimed at publishing historical documentary editions that it sponsors or endorses. These subventions aim to enhance the distribution and use of these editions while ensuring high standards in archival permanence for materials used in publishing.
Grants can be requested for amounts up to $10,000, available for a period of up to two years. The NHPRC anticipates awarding around 15 grants. As part of the agreement, the NHPRC retains a royalty-free, non-exclusive, and irrevocable license to use and reproduce any work resulting from these grants. Recipients must also acknowledge NHPRC support in all published materials.
Cost sharing is mandatory, which means applicants need to contribute financially to the project's expenses, covering aspects like editing, design, production, and marketing. The NHPRC will typically fund only the estimated losses associated with the publication of a volume, calculated based on a formula provided by the Association of American University Presses.
Additionally, the NHPRC may provide up to $3,000 for reprints of endorsed volumes, covering no more than half of the associated costs. Interested applicants must apply through the Grants.gov process and submit the required forms, including the Application for Federal Assistance and the Subvention budget form. It’s crucial for applicants to review the full grant announcement and NHPRC regulations before applying.Apply for SUBVENTIONS 10
