USAID is seeking input from interested parties regarding potential strategic objectives to enhance the civil society sector in Cambodia. This initiative is strictly a Request for Information (RFI) and not a solicitation for proposals.
The organization is focusing on several key objectives that cover diverse areas of civil society involvement in both urban and rural settings. The objectives include:
1. Strengthening organizations to foster civic engagement in policy discussions and community development. 2. Enhancing advocacy through alliances and networks to build constituencies for reform. 3. Promoting a supportive environment for freedom of expression, association, and human rights. 4. Improving civic education quality and public engagement with it. 5. Enhancing the capacity of independent media to provide diverse information. 6. Addressing community conflicts and encouraging citizen participation in public affairs.
USAID is particularly interested in supporting vulnerable populations and encourages qualitative and quantitative research related to these objectives. Interested parties are invited to provide concise feedback on the objectives, including lessons learned, necessary activities for achievement, relevant data or studies, and any alternative objectives that may be more effective.
Responses are requested via email by June 1, 2013, and should specify whether the responding entity wishes to remain anonymous. It’s important to note that this RFI does not guarantee any grant or cooperative agreement and responding will not provide an advantage in future solicitations.
