The National TB Controllers Association is the only external organization serving as a liaison between the nations TB Controllers Association and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE) . This organization provides a conduit for discussions relative to the nations TB trends, issues that impact federal funding, and provide alerts when there are issues that may have a negative impact on national TB programs meeting DTBE national TB goals and objectives. This organization has been successful in working collaboratively with DTBE to interpret policies, guidelines, and recommendations to the state/big city/territorial TB programs. By expanding activities, supported by this supplement, the NTCA can transition activities without any program gaps in meeting the needs of 67 TB project areas and as a result of their expertise and guidance to programs over more than almost two decades making this organization uniquely qualified to perform the programmatic activities as indicated. This expansion is to increase activities utilizing more state of the art technologies to enhance current activities with DTBE. In addition, development of a TB related public health infrastructure relative to the TB drug supplies, and ongoing support for 67 partners in the field to advance TB program focused work that is in line with plans (IOM, DTBE) for the elimination of TB in the United States. No previous request was made, so there are no outcomes to reports.Without approval of this supplement, there may be a negative impact to TB control programs, specifically relative to having alerts and/or awareness with systematic plans for drug shortages that could result in a negative, adverse effect for TB care in the U.S.
