A key limitation is that alteration and renovation projects do not increase the total square footage of the building. These projects may also include related moveable equipment, and they may include furniture, administrative equipment like computers or phones, and certain low-cost medical items, as long as they have a useful life of at least one year and cost less than $5,000 per unit.
