Opportunity Information: Apply for DRLA DRLAQM 11 005

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) is inviting proposals for projects that advance democracy, human rights, rule of law, and freedom of expression in Europe and Eurasia. The funding opportunities are specifically targeted at initiatives focused on various themes, including:

1. **Building Media Capacity in Russia**: Approximately $770,000 is available to enhance the ability of civil society and media to fight corruption and promote transparency, particularly in the lead-up to elections. Projects should aim to empower journalists and activists to expose corruption and ensure financial sustainability for media outlets.

2. **Improving Access to Justice in the North Caucasus**: With around $550,000 designated for this area, the goal is to facilitate justice for marginalized populations facing repression and violence. Proposals should bolster civil society’s capacity to provide legal services and raise awareness of human rights protections.

3. **Promoting Interethnic Understanding in the Balkans**: Approximately $500,000 is available for initiatives aimed at reducing discrimination among youth from diverse backgrounds. Programs should foster dialogue and reconciliation across ethnic and religious lines and must involve participants from multiple Balkan countries.

Applicants must strictly follow the provided submission guidelines and technical requirements, ensuring that proposals detail their project objectives, methodologies, and sustainability plans. Submissions should also demonstrate a collaborative approach with local entities and a strong focus on measurable outcomes.

Important notes include the necessity of registering on grants.gov, a variety of required submission documents, and a clear outline of the project's capacity to create lasting impact beyond the grant period. Preference will be given to proposals that include significant contributions to and engagement with local stakeholders.

For more information, applicants should refer to the DRL's posted Proposal Submission Instructions on their website, as adherence to these guidelines is crucial for proposal consideration.
