• Who May Submit Proposals Proposals may only be submitted by the following Only U.S. academic institutions with graduate research programs may apply. Who May Serve as PI The PI at any institution participating in an I/UCRC proposal must be a tenured faculty member. Waivers may be requested when petitioned by the PIs supervisor (Chairman of the Department or the Dean). In addition, the center or site director must be the PI. PIs with an active award for any NSF I/UCRC research center are not eligible to apply for another Phase I award. Awardees of planning grants toestablish new centers must complete their planning grantworkshops (with NSF Program Director representation) before submitting full proposals. Eligibility to submit a full proposal to establish a new center is dependent upon the PI completing one of the following (this does not apply to joining established centers) activities ulliNSF sponsored boot camp (see Section III.
