Eligible applicants that are public or nonprofit private entities may include state and local governments, Indian Tribal Governments, institutions of higher education, other nonprofit organizations such as faith based and community based organizations and Tribal organizations. For profit organizations may participate in a grant project but are not eligible to apply as the applicant institution. If the applicant is an Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN) member, and/or if the applicant is working with a consortium that includes OPTN members, the applicant and all other OPTN members involved in the project are expected to be in compliance with the final rule governing the operation of the OPTN (42 CFR Part 121 or visit http://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov).
