Opportunity Information: Apply for W81XWH 11 NFRP IIRA
The Department of Defense (DoD) Neurofibromatosis Research Program (NFRP) is offering the Investigator Initiated Research Award to advance research on neurofibromatosis (NF) and Schwannomatosis. Since its inception in 1996, this program has received numerous applications, funding a significant number of them. The award aims to support research that enhances understanding of NF and Schwannomatosis, improves their diagnosis and treatment, and ultimately enhances the quality of life for affected individuals.
For FY11, the program encourages proposals that focus on critical needs within the NF community, particularly in four key areas:
1. Addressing serious complications of NF with high mortality rates, such as tumors and cerebrovascular issues. 2. Investigating complications with significant morbidity, including skeletal problems, learning deficits, hormone-related effects, and chronic pain. 3. Refining imaging techniques, as well as developing molecular and cellular markers and quality of life measures for future clinical trials. 4. Conducting translational research involving the development or preclinical testing of new therapeutic agents for NF.
Applicants are required to submit preliminary data relevant to their projects on NF or Schwannomatosis. Collaborative efforts are highly encouraged, particularly those that bring together basic scientists with clinical researchers or industry professionals, as well as collaborations that introduce new perspectives or investigators into the field.Apply for W81XWH 11 NFRP IIRA
