- Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply. Sponsoring Institution The sponsoring institution must assure support for the proposed research education project. Appropriate institutional commitment to the project includes the provision of adequate staff, facilities, and educational resources that can contribute to the planned research education project. Participants Describe who the intended participants are, and what eligibility and/or specific educational background characteristics are essential for participation in the proposed program. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows who are open to considering a career in an area of biomedical research relevant to diabetes, endocrinology, obesity, nutrition, digestive and liver diseases, kidney diseases, urologic diseases, and hematologic diseases should be targeted. Students from scientific disciplines such as engineering, informatics, computer science, and computational sciences also may be encouraged to participate. Applicants are required to include a plan for Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research (see Section IV.6). Applications must contain an evaluation plan. Applications submitted without this sections may be delayed in the review process or not reviewed. Applicants may submit more than one application, provided each application is scientifically distinct.
