The statutory authority for this program prohibits grants to for profit agencies. The legislation also states that one of the purposes of the grant is to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth in communities throughout the United States. In order to maximize the impact of this program among communities throughout the United States, current and former STOP Act grantees are not eligible.
